Detailed Itinerary

Day 1, Fly to Murchison Falls and Visit the Top of the Falls

Your safari starts with a pickup from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala and a transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your domestic flight to Murchison Falls National Park. The flight takes about one hour, depending on routing and flight schedule. You may land at Pakuba or Bugungu Airstrip, where your driver guide will meet you and transfer you to your lodge. After check-in and lunch, spend time relaxing at the lodge. Later, visit the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile forces through a narrow rock gorge before dropping into the river below. If time allows, continue with a short evening game drive in the northern sector, with chances to see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes and, with luck, lions or leopards. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2, Budongo Chimpanzee Tracking and Nile Boat Cruise

After breakfast, transfer to Budongo Forest Reserve for optional chimpanzee tracking. Budongo Forest is one of Uganda’s important chimpanzee habitats and offers a forest contrast to the savannah and Nile scenery of Murchison Falls. After briefing, you enter the forest with guides and trackers to search for a habituated chimpanzee community. Once the chimpanzees are located, you spend one hour observing them as they feed, call, groom and move through the forest. You may also see other forest wildlife such as monkeys, birds and butterflies during the walk. After chimpanzee tracking, return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, take a Nile boat cruise towards the base of Murchison Falls. Along the riverbanks, you may see hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and many water birds. The cruise also gives strong views of the falls from below. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3, Morning Game Drive and Fly Back to Entebbe

Start the day with breakfast at the lodge, then go for a morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. The morning hours are good for wildlife viewing because animals are more active before the heat rises. Your guide will search for elephants, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, lions, hartebeests, Uganda kob, waterbucks and other wildlife across the plains. After the game drive, return to the lodge to check out and transfer to Pakuba or Bugungu Airstrip for your return flight to Entebbe. On arrival in Entebbe, you will be transferred to your hotel or Entebbe International Airport, depending on your onward travel plan.
