14 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari

This 14-day Uganda Wildlife Safari is designed for travellers who want a complete Uganda savannah wildlife route featuring game drives, boat cruises, rhino tracking, cultural experiences, walking safaris, and lakeside relaxation. The safari starts and ends in Entebbe, travelling through Kidepo Valley National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Lake Mburo National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Lake Bunyonyi. The route gives travellers a wide view of Uganda’s wildlife and landscapes, from the remote plains of Kidepo and the Nile in Murchison Falls to rhino tracking at Ziwa, walking safari in Lake Mburo, lion tracking and the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth, and canoeing on Lake Bunyonyi.

 Detailed Itinerary

Day 1, Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will meet our company representative and safari driver-guide. After a short welcome briefing, you will be transferred to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, depending on the final arrangement. The rest of the day will be at leisure as you relax after your flight and prepare for the start of your Uganda wildlife safari. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your hotel. Day 2, Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park

After an early breakfast, you will start the long drive to Kidepo Valley National Park in northeastern Uganda. The journey takes you through changing landscapes, towns, countryside, and the semi-arid region of Karamoja. This is one of the longest travel days of the safari, with lunch en route and stopovers for stretching. On arrival in the late afternoon or evening, you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Accommodation: Budget Apoka Rest Camp, Mid-range Kidepo Savannah Lodge, Luxury Apoka Safari Lodge or Adere Safari Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 3, Narus Valley Game Drive and Karamojong Cultural Visit

After breakfast, you will meet your guide and head to the Narus Valley for a morning game drive. This valley is one of the best wildlife viewing areas in Kidepo Valley National Park because it has more reliable water sources and attracts a variety of animals. During the game drive, you may see elephants, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, elands, hartebeests, lions, cheetahs, and, with luck, leopards. The drive usually takes 2 to 3 hours, depending on wildlife movement and park conditions. After lunch and relaxation at the lodge, you will visit a nearby Karamojong community for a cultural experience. This visit gives you time to learn about homesteads, cattle kraals, traditional dress, spears, bows, arrows, jewellery, stools, utensils, and the pastoral lifestyle of the Karamojong people. Later in the evening, you may enjoy a short sunset game drive before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Meal plan

Day 4, Kidepo Valley Tour and Kanangorok Hot Springs

After breakfast, you will drive towards Kidepo Valley, a scenic section of the park close to the Uganda and South Sudan border. This area is known for open landscapes, seasonal riverbeds, wildlife movement, and the Kanangorok Hot Springs. During the drive, you may see ostriches and other wildlife depending on movement and conditions. You will visit the hot springs, enjoy the views, and learn more about this remote section of Kidepo Valley National Park. After the valley tour, return to the lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 5, Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, you will check out and start the drive to Murchison Falls National Park. The journey takes you from the Kidepo region to northwestern Uganda, with lunch en route, often around Gulu depending on the final routing. You will continue towards Murchison Falls National Park and enter through Tangi Gate, depending on the lodge location. As you drive to the lodge, you may see elephants, giraffes, antelopes, and other wildlife along the way. On arrival, check in at your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay. Day 6, Murchison Falls Game Drive and River Nile Boat Cruise

After breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive in the northern section of Murchison Falls National Park, including the delta area, depending on routing and conditions. During the game drive, you may see elephants, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffalos, lions, hartebeests, Uganda kobs, oribis, waterbucks, and many bird species. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise along the River Nile towards the base of Murchison Falls. The cruise gives you views of the riverbanks, hippos, crocodiles, and birds such as kingfishers, cormorants, bee eaters, and other water birds. Day 7, Top of Murchison Falls and Rhino Tracking at Ziwa

After breakfast, you will visit the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile forces its way through a narrow gorge before dropping into the river below. This viewpoint gives you a close look at the power of the falls, the sound of the water, and the surrounding scenery. After the falls visit, you will drive out of the park and continue to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola. On arrival, you will have lunch and prepare for rhino tracking. After a briefing from the sanctuary team, you will head out with guides to track rhinos on foot. The experience can take 2 to 3 hours depending on the location of the rhinos. Day 8, Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After an early breakfast, you will meet your guide and start the journey to Lake Mburo National Park in western Uganda. This is a long transfer day, with a stop at the Uganda Equator for photos and lunch before continuing west. On arrival at Lake Mburo National Park, you will connect to your lodge with en route wildlife viewing depending on time. Lake Mburo is known for zebras, impalas, elands, topis, buffalos, warthogs, hippos, and birdlife. Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Day 9, Walking Safari and Boat Cruise in Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, you will meet ranger guides for a guided walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park. This activity gives you a closer ground-level experience of the park, with chances to see zebras, impalas, elands, topis, warthogs, buffalos, birds, and other wildlife depending on the route. Return to the lodge for refreshments, lunch, and relaxation. In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo. The boat ride gives you close views of hippos, crocodiles, water birds, and the lake scenery. After the boat cruise, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Day 10, Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will check out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a drive of about 5 hours depending on road conditions and stops. On arrival, you will check in at your lodge and have lunch. After a short rest, you will drive to the Kasenyi plains for an evening game drive. This area is known for Uganda kobs, elephants, buffalos, lions, warthogs, and other savannah wildlife. Depending on timing and routing, you may also visit the crater lakes area for scenic views. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Accommodation: Budget Pumba Safari Cottages, Mid-range Parkview Safari Lodge, Luxury Mweya Safari Lodge or Kyambura Gorge Lodge. Day 11, Lion Tracking and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

After breakfast, you will drive to the Kasenyi plains for a lion tracking experience in Queen Elizabeth National Park, if available and confirmed in advance. This activity gives you a more focused chance to learn about the park’s lions, their movement, and the conservation work connected to monitoring them. During the activity and en route game drive, you may see elephants, buffalos, Uganda kobs, antelopes, warthogs, and, with luck, leopards. After the experience, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, one of Queen Elizabeth National Park’s best wildlife viewing experiences. The cruise offers chances to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffalos, and many water birds along the channel banks. Day 12, Transfer from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, you will check out and drive to Lake Bunyonyi in southwestern Uganda. The journey takes you through highland landscapes, local towns, and the scenic Kigezi region before reaching the lake area. Lake Bunyonyi is known for its terraced hills, calm waters, birdlife, islands, and relaxed atmosphere. On arrival, you will check in at your lodge, have lunch, and spend the afternoon enjoying views of the lake and surrounding hills. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your lodge. Day 13, Canoeing and Relaxation on Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, you will spend the day relaxing around Lake Bunyonyi. The name Bunyonyi means “place of little birds,” and the lake is known for its islands, terraced hills, cool climate, and peaceful scenery. You may take a canoe ride to visit selected islands, enjoy bird watching, hike to a viewpoint, swim where permitted, or relax at the lodge. This day gives you time to slow down after the long wildlife route before returning to Entebbe the following day. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your lodge. Day 14, Drive Back to Kampala or Entebbe for Departure

After breakfast, you will check out and start the drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, depending on your travel arrangements. The journey takes several hours depending on road conditions, lodge location, traffic, and stops along the way. On arrival, your safari guide will drop you off at your hotel, residence, agreed location, or Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight. This marks the end of your 14-day Uganda Wildlife Safari. Meal plan: Breakfast and lunch
