Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti

Set deep inside Serengeti National Park in the Seronera region, Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti gives you the full safari experience while keeping the comfort and service you would expect from a five-star hotel. The lodge sits on wooden platforms connected by elevated walkways, with wide views across the Serengeti and a busy watering hole right below the main lodge. You can sit down for breakfast, relax by the swimming pool or enjoy some downtime between game drives while watching wildlife come down to drink. For travellers combining a Serengeti safari with a beach holiday, it is a comfortable choice when you want more than a place to sleep. You have spacious accommodation, several dining options, a swimming pool and the kind of full-service facilities that make it easy to slow down and enjoy your time in the Serengeti.

Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti Location

Four Seasons Safari Lodge sits in the Seronera area, right in the heart of Serengeti National Park. This is one of the best parts of the park for year-round wildlife viewing, with plenty of game around even when the Great Migration has moved elsewhere. Lions, leopards and elephants are regular sights around the Seronera area, so there is always plenty to look forward to beyond the seasonal migration. The location also puts you within easy reach of some of the Serengeti’s best game-viewing areas. One of the most enjoyable features of the lodge is the watering hole below the main lounge and pool deck. Elephants, zebras and antelope regularly come down to drink, giving you the chance to watch wildlife without even leaving the lodge. It is the kind of setting where you can sit back with a drink and still have animals moving through the view in front of you. Seronera Airstrip is the closest airstrip to the lodge. From there, the drive takes about 57 minutes, or roughly one hour, depending on road conditions.

Savannah and Horizon Rooms

Savannah and Horizon Rooms form the main accommodation options at the lodge and work well for couples and smaller families. Most rooms sleep up to three adults or two adults travelling with one child. Horizon Rooms come with either a king-size bed or two twin beds, four-poster styling, a private balcony and views across the savannah or towards the watering hole. Local textile artwork adds character to the interiors without taking away from the natural feel of the lodge. Inside, you have air conditioning, a private bathroom, a separate sitting area, Wi-Fi, an in-room safe and a flat-screen television. The private balcony gives you a quiet place to sit and take in the surroundings, while the higher room categories bring you closer to the action around the watering hole.

Terrace Suites

The 12 Terrace Suites give you considerably more space than the standard rooms and are particularly appealing if you want a private outdoor area of your own. Each suite opens onto a private terrace with a small plunge pool and views across the plains and watering hole. An outdoor shower, second bathroom and separate lounge add to the extra space. Families can make particularly good use of the lounge, which converts with trundle beds to sleep two children. This gives two adults and two children enough room to stay comfortably without moving into a full private villa. For couples, the private terrace, plunge pool and views make the Terrace Suite a good middle ground between a standard lodge room and a standalone villa.

One-Bedroom Villa

The One-Bedroom Villa gives you more privacy and living space while keeping the accommodation suitable for smaller groups. It sleeps up to three adults or two adults and one child, with a king-size bed and sofa bed. The villa looks out across the savannah and comes with an outdoor shower and private swimming pool. Inside, there is a full kitchen together with separate living and dining areas, while the private outdoor deck gives you another place to relax. Butler service adds another level of convenience, particularly for guests looking for a more private and personalised stay.

Two-Bedroom Villa

The Two-Bedroom Villa is a better fit for families or small groups who want the privacy and space of their own villa. The bedrooms are arranged with one king-size bed and two twin beds, while the villa also has its own private pool, kitchen facilities and separate living area. Having these spaces together makes it easy to spend time as a group while still giving everyone room to retreat when they want some privacy.

Presidential Villa

At the top end of the accommodation is the three-bedroom Presidential Villa, designed for guests who want the most space and privacy at the lodge. It sleeps up to six adults or four adults and two children, with three king-size beds and a sofa. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring the Serengeti into the living spaces, with views towards both the plains and the watering hole. The villa comes with its own swimming pool, gym, full kitchen, living and dining areas, study and butler service. Two full bathrooms have bathtubs and outdoor showers, while a separate powder room adds further convenience. Outside, the private deck has loungers and plenty of space to relax away from the main lodge. It is the kind of setting where you can spend part of the day at your own pace while still having the Serengeti right in front of you.

Restaurants and Dining at Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti

Dining is another area where Four Seasons stands apart from a smaller safari camp. With three restaurants, there is enough variety to keep meals interesting during a longer Serengeti stay. African-inspired dishes feature across the dining spaces, with options to eat indoors or outside while taking in the surrounding plains. Breakfast gives you a choice of American, Continental and Full English or Irish options. That variety is useful on safari, particularly when your schedule changes between early morning game drives, relaxed mornings at the lodge and longer days in the park. The standard room rate covers three meals a day, along with house wines, local beer and well spirits. A laundry credit is also part of the package. This is worth keeping in mind when comparing Four Seasons with other Serengeti lodges, since meals, drinks and laundry can add considerably to the final cost at properties where they are charged separately.

Poolside Bar and Sundowners

The poolside bar overlooks the plains and makes a natural stop after an afternoon game drive. As the heat of the day eases, it is a good place to settle down with a drink and watch the landscape around the lodge. A terrace and garden provide additional spaces for a quieter drink before dinner or later in the evening.

Swimming Pool, Spa and Other Lodge Facilities

Four Seasons offers considerably more than a traditional safari camp, making it a strong choice for travellers who want to combine the Serengeti with the comfort and services of a full-service luxury hotel.

Infinity Pool Overlooking the Watering Hole

The free-form infinity pool is one of the lodge’s standout features, with the watering hole directly below. You can spend the middle of the day around the pool between game drives while keeping an eye on animals coming down to drink. Sun loungers around the pool provide an easy place to relax, particularly during the warmer part of the afternoon.

Spa and Fitness Facilities

The spa has six individual treatment pavilions where you can settle in for facials, body treatments, hot stone massages and other therapies. For guests who like to keep active while travelling, the 72-square-metre fitness centre overlooks the swimming pool and Serengeti plains. You can get a workout in without completely leaving the safari setting behind.

Family, Business and Other Amenities

Families have plenty to keep younger travellers occupied, including children’s facilities and the Kijana Klub programme through Kids for All Seasons. Babysitting can also be arranged. For guests who need to stay connected to work, there is a 24-hour Business Centre together with meeting rooms. A hair salon and game and arcade room add further conveniences, while Wi-Fi is available in the guest rooms.

How to Get to Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti

The easiest way to reach Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is by flying to Seronera Airstrip, which sits in the heart of the Serengeti. Most international travellers first arrive through Kilimanjaro International Airport and continue to Arusha, where they connect with a domestic flight to Seronera. From Seronera Airstrip, the lodge is about an hour’s drive away. The lodge does not arrange the airstrip transfer, so your safari operator should organise the vehicle and driver before you arrive.

Is Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti Worth It?

Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is a strong choice for travellers who want the wildlife and setting of the Serengeti while still having the comfort and service of a five-star hotel. The location in Seronera puts you close to some of the Serengeti’s best year-round wildlife viewing, and there is plenty to see even when you are not out on a game drive. The watering hole below the lodge regularly draws wildlife, giving you another way to enjoy the safari atmosphere from the property itself. There is also plenty of choice when it comes to relaxing at the lodge. Three restaurants, a full spa, an infinity pool overlooking the watering hole, spacious rooms and suites, private villas, family facilities and a fitness centre make it feel much more like a luxury hotel than a traditional safari camp. That level of comfort will not be for everyone. If you prefer a small, intimate tented camp where the bush is the main focus, a smaller property elsewhere in the Serengeti may suit you better. But if you want to combine serious Serengeti game viewing with five-star comfort, Four Seasons brings the two together very well.
