Itinerary, day by day

Day 1: Fly to Murchison, the top of the falls, and evening game drive

On the first day, depending on your location in Entebbe, connect to Entebbe International Airport to check in for your flight to Murchison Falls National Park. It’s an hour flight, and depending on the season, you will either fly on a charter or a scheduled domestic flight with Aerolink Uganda Limited. Upon arrival at Pakuba or Bugugu Airstrip, meet your safari guide to drive you to your lodge in the park. Upon arrival at the lodge, check in for lunch, and spend your afternoon relaxing at the lodge. Many luxury lodges in Murchison Falls National Park are situated in beautiful locations, offering stunning views of the park’s landscapes or the Nile River.

Take a walk around the lodge’s grounds, which are often well-maintained and provide opportunities for wildlife sightings. Keep an eye out for birds, monkeys, and other small animals that might frequent the area.

Day 2: Chimp tracking, private boat cruise

On the second day of your trip, you will have the opportunity to go chimpanzee tracking in the Budongo Forest Reserve. After enjoying a delicious breakfast at your lodge, prepare for an exciting chimpanzee tracking experience. Your tour guide will transport you to the starting point of the tracking activity. The Budongo Forest Reserve is home to a thriving population of chimpanzees, and this experience offers a unique opportunity to observe these incredible primates in their natural habitat. Accompanied by an experienced guide and trackers, you’ll embark on a trek through the forest, searching for chimpanzee groups. As you hike through the lush forest, listen for the sounds of chimpanzee vocalizations and keep an eye out for signs of their presence, such as nests and feeding remnants. Once a group is located, you’ll spend a precious hour observing their behaviour, learning about their social dynamics, and witnessing their playful interactions. Along the way, you may also encounter other forest inhabitants, such as monkeys, birds, and various plant species, making the chimpanzee tracking experience even more enriching.

After chimpanzee trekking, return to the lodge, have your lunch, and prepare for the private sunset boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. You will embark on a thrilling boat safari on the Nile River. The boat safari takes you along the Nile River, offering excellent opportunities to spot various wildlife species that come to the riverbanks to drink and bathe. Keep an eye out for hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffalo, and a diverse array of birdlife, including herons, kingfishers, eagles, and storks.

Day 3: Morning game drive, fly back to Entebbe

Start your day with a delectable breakfast at the lodge. You will go for a morning game drive. The activity takes about 2-3 hours, depending on the animals available, and you will find animals including Elephants, Rothschild giraffes, buffalo, lions, Hartebeest, Uganda Kobs, and waterbucks. After the game drive and checking out, connect to the airstrip for your return flight to Entebbe, marking the end of the safari.
