1 Day Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Tour
This 1-day Bwindi gorilla trekking tour is designed for travellers who want a professionally managed gorilla trekking experience without booking a full Uganda safari circuit. It works best for guests already travelling near Bwindi, arriving from Kigali, staying around Lake Bunyonyi, or arranging long-distance transport from Entebbe or Kampala separately. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park covers 331 square kilometres in southwestern Uganda and is one of Africa’s richest rainforest habitats. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Arrive in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park region and check in at your lodge near the assigned gorilla trekking sector. The lodge location must match the permit sector because Bwindi has different trekking areas, including Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo. After check-in, your guide or lodge team will confirm the next morning’s reporting time, packed lunch arrangement and transfer to the park headquarters. Use the evening to rest and prepare for the trek. Recommended items include long trousers, hiking shoes, rain jacket, garden gloves, insect repellent, drinking water and a camera without flash. Dinner and overnight stay near Bwindi.Luxury: Four Gorillas Lodge, Mid-range: Buhoma Haven Lodge, Budget: Bakiga Lodge
Day 2, Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After an early breakfast, transfer to the assigned Bwindi sector headquarters with your packed lunch and drinking water. The day begins with registration and a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides. The briefing covers trekking rules, safety in the forest, visitor behaviour near gorillas and conservation guidelines. After the briefing, you will be allocated to a habituated gorilla family and enter the forest with ranger guides. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi can take 2 to 8 hours, depending on the movement and location of the gorilla family. Mountain gorillas move freely through the forest, so the trekking time changes from one day to another. Once the gorillas are found, you will spend one hour watching them feed, rest, move and interact in their natural habitat. Photography is allowed, but flash photography is not permitted. After the experience, return to the starting point and transfer back to the lodge for rest, dinner and overnight. Optional activities after the trek include a community walk, Batwa cultural experience or relaxation at the lodge.

Day 3, Depart from Bwindi
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and continue with your onward journey. Travellers can proceed to Kigali, Lake Bunyonyi, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kampala, Entebbe or another destination depending on their travel plan. Long-distance transfers can be arranged on request. Guests flying out on the same day need careful timing because road transfers from Bwindi can take many hours depending on the route, border crossing and road conditions.
