Detailed Itinerary

Day 1, Tarangire National Park Game Drive and Baobab Landscapes

Depending on your location in Arusha, meet your safari guide in the morning for a short briefing before driving to Tarangire National Park. The drive from Arusha to Tarangire takes about 2 to 3 hours. On arrival, begin your game drive in one of Northern Tanzania’s best parks for elephant sightings. Tarangire is known for large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, open savannah, seasonal swamps and the Tarangire River. During the dry season, the river attracts many animals, making the park especially rewarding for wildlife viewing. During your game drive, look out for elephants, zebras, hartebeest, waterbucks, gazelles, giraffes, buffalo, wildebeest, lions, leopards and a variety of bird species. Enjoy lunch during the safari, then continue with an afternoon game drive before transferring to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Day 2, Ngorongoro Crater Safari and Lake Magad

After breakfast, transfer to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a packed lunch for a full-day safari inside the crater. Descend about 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Tanzania’s best wildlife viewing areas because of its high concentration of animals within a compact natural setting. During the game drive, you may see lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, warthogs, hippos and different antelope species. The crater also has open grasslands, swamps, forest patches and wetland areas that support varied wildlife. Visit Lake Magadi, a shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern part of the crater. Depending on the season, the lake attracts flamingos and other bird species, while hippos are often seen around the wetland areas. After the game drive, ascend from the crater and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3, Transfer to Serengeti National Park with En Route Game Viewing.

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and begin your drive to Serengeti National Park with a packed lunch. The journey takes you through the Ngorongoro area and towards the wide Serengeti plains. The drive is scenic and includes en route game viewing, with opportunities to see wildlife as you approach the park. Enjoy lunch during the journey before continuing deeper into the Serengeti. Depending on the route and time of arrival, you may see wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants, buffalo, lions, hippos, cheetahs, leopards, elands and giraffes. Day 4, Full Day Central Serengeti Safari and Simba Kopjes

After an early breakfast, leave the lodge with a packed lunch for a full day of wildlife viewing in Serengeti National Park. Begin with a morning game drive when predators are more active. This is a good time to search for lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas before the heat of the day increases. Explore the open plains and wildlife-rich areas of the Serengeti, where you may see zebras, impalas, elephants, giraffes, gazelles, hippos, buffalo and many bird species. Later, drive around the Simba Kopjes, rocky outcrops that provide shelter and lookout points for lions and other wildlife. These kopjes are also important habitats for reptiles, birds and smaller mammals. Enjoy your packed lunch in the park and continue with an afternoon game drive before returning to the lodge in time for sunset.

Day 5, Northern Serengeti and Mara River Game Drive

After an early breakfast, collect your packed lunch and head out for a full-day game drive towards the Northern Serengeti and Mara River area, depending on the season and wildlife movement. This region is best known for migration activity during the right months, when wildebeest and zebras may gather near the Mara River. River crossings are seasonal and unpredictable, but the area remains excellent for wildlife viewing. Spend the day searching for hippos, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, lions, hyenas, cheetahs, antelopes, hartebeest and zebras. The Mara River area also supports crocodiles, riverine vegetation and strong predator activity during migration periods. Enjoy lunch in the wilderness before continuing with more game viewing in the afternoon. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6, Return to Arusha for Departure

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and begin your drive back to Arusha. Enjoy en route views and lunch depending on your schedule. If time allows, your guide may make brief stops along the way. Upon arrival in Arusha, you will be dropped off at your hotel, preferred location or the airport for your onward flight. This marks the end of your 6-day Tanzania safari.
