Uganda National Parks | Destinations

Uganda is a small country with ten major protected areas for animals. Each park offers something different for people on a trip. Some have thick forests for gorillas. Others have open grass for lions and elephants. In 2026, many people chose these spots because they are less crowded than other countries nearby. You can see the big cats without twenty other cars in your way. We will look at each park to help you pick the right ones for your stay. This information comes from local work in the field and the latest rules from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.

Comparing the Top Parks for Your Trip

Choosing where to go depends on what you want to see. Murchison Falls is the largest park. It has a huge river and a massive waterfall. Queen Elizabeth is famous for lions that climb trees. Bwindi is the place for gorillas. Kidepo Valley is far away but very quiet. Lake Mburo is small and close to the capital city. If you have only three days, you might pick Lake Mburo or Queen Elizabeth. If you have two weeks, you can visit four or five parks. The costs for entry vary by park. Most charge forty or forty-five dollars per day for visitors from outside the country. You must also pay for your car to enter the gate.
