3 Day Bwindi Fly In Gorilla Trekking Safari
A 3 day Bwindi fly in gorilla trekking safari is the fastest way to reach Uganda’s mountain gorillas without spending a full day on the road from Entebbe. Instead of driving for 8 to 9 hours, you take a scheduled domestic flight from Entebbe to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip, then continue by road to your lodge near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This safari is ideal for international travellers with limited time who want a comfortable and well-planned gorilla trekking experience. Flights, lodge transfers, accommodation, gorilla permit support and park briefing are arranged in advance so that the trip remains focused and efficient.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1, Fly from Entebbe to Bwindi and Transfer to Lodge
Your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel or Entebbe International Airport and assist with check-in for your scheduled domestic flight to the Bwindi region. The flight usually takes about one hour, depending on routing and weather. You may land at Kihihi Airstrip or Kisoro Airstrip, depending on your assigned gorilla trekking sector and lodge location. Kihihi is commonly used for Buhoma and Ruhija sectors, while Kisoro is commonly used for Rushaga and Nkuringo sectors. Your final airstrip is selected based on permit availability and accommodation. On arrival, your driver guide will meet you at the airstrip and transfer you to your lodge for check-in and lunch, spend the afternoon relaxing and preparing for the next day’s gorilla trek. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge. Accommodation: Budget options: Buhoma Community Rest Camp or Rushaga Haven Lodge, Mid-range option: Buhoma Haven Lodge, Luxury options: Mahogany Springs Lodge or Four Gorillas Lodge
Day 2, Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest National Park
After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and drinking water. You will attend a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, who explain gorilla trekking rules, forest safety, group allocation and how to behave around the gorillas. Visitors are placed in small groups and assigned a habituated gorilla family. After the briefing, enter the forest with rangers and trackers. The trek can take about 2 to 8 hours depending on the location of the gorillas, terrain and forest conditions. Trails may be steep, muddy and covered with dense vegetation, so good hiking boots and a reasonable level of fitness are important. Once the gorillas are located, you spend one hour observing them. You may see a silverback, mothers with infants, juveniles playing and family members feeding or resting. After the trek, return to the lodge for rest. If time and energy allow, an optional village or community visit can be arranged near Bwindi. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 3, Fly Back to Entebbe and Continue Your Journey
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip for your scheduled return flight to Entebbe. Your driver guide will ensure you arrive at the airstrip in time for check-in. Domestic flights may have luggage weight limits, so soft bags are recommended for this safari. On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you can connect to your international flight, transfer to your hotel or continue with another Uganda safari extension. For same-day international departures, choose a late afternoon or evening flight to allow enough time for the domestic flight schedule and any weather-related delays.
