Detailed itinerary
Day 1, Ziwa Rhino Tracking and Transfer to Murchison Falls
Your driver guide will pick you up from Entebbe or Kampala and begin the journey to Murchison Falls National Park. After about 3 hours, you arrive at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for guided rhino tracking on foot. This is the only place in Uganda where travellers can see rhinos in a protected wild setting. The activity usually takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on where the rhinos are located. After rhino tracking, have lunch and continue to Murchison Falls National Park through Masindi. You enter the park through Kichumbanyobo Gate and continue towards the top of Murchison Falls, depending on time. After visiting the falls, proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Accommodation:
Hornbill Bush Lodge, budget option

Day 2, Murchison Falls Game Drive and Nile Boat Cruise
After early breakfast, go for a morning game drive in the northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park, including the delta area if road conditions and timing allow. This area offers chances to see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, Uganda kob, waterbucks, warthogs and many bird species. The morning hours are best because wildlife is more active before the heat rises. Return for lunch, then transfer to Paraa for the afternoon Nile boat cruise to the base of Murchison Falls. Along the riverbanks, you may see hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and water birds. The cruise gives a close view of the Nile as it approaches the falls. After the boat cruise, return to the lodge with a short en route game drive. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3, Transfer to Kibale Forest and Bigodi Wetland Walk
After breakfast, begin the scenic transfer from Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest National Park. This is a long but rewarding drive through western Uganda, passing rural towns, farms and changing landscapes. Arrive in Fort Portal in time for lunch, depending on road conditions. In the afternoon, continue for a guided walk at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. The walk usually takes about 2 hours and offers chances to see monkeys, wetland birds, butterflies and community activities. After the walk, transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Accommodation: Chimpanzee Guesthouse, budget option
Day 4, Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth
After breakfast, transfer to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for your chimpanzee trekking briefing. You will enter the forest with ranger guides and trackers to search for a habituated chimpanzee community. The trek can take about 2 to 5 hours, depending on where the chimpanzees are feeding or moving. Once the chimpanzees are located, you spend one hour observing them as they feed, groom, call, rest or move through the forest. After trekking, have lunch and begin the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive from Fort Portal to Queen Elizabeth usually takes about 3 hours, passing crater lake scenery, tea plantations and Rift Valley landscapes. Dinner and overnight stay at Pumba Safari Cottages, budget option.

Day 5, Kasenyi Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
After an early breakfast, go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Kasenyi is one of the best wildlife viewing areas in the park because of its open grasslands and high concentration of Uganda kob, which often attracts predators. Your guide will look for lions, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, antelopes and other wildlife. Return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, transfer to the Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise. The channel connects Lake George and Lake Edward and is known for hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and many water birds along the shores. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6, Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, depart Queen Elizabeth National Park and begin the scenic drive south towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey passes through rolling highlands, rural villages and terraced hillsides as you approach the forested slopes of Bwindi. Depending on your gorilla permit sector, you will arrive in either Buhoma, Rushaga or another assigned sector in the afternoon. After check-in, relax at the lodge and prepare for the gorilla trekking experience the following day. Your guide will confirm the morning schedule and park registration time. Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Community Rest Camp or Rushaga Haven Lodge.
Day 7, Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and drinking water. Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers will brief you on trekking rules, safety, group allocation and how to behave around the gorillas. You will then enter the forest with rangers and trackers to search for your assigned gorilla family. The trek can take about 2 to 8 hours depending on the gorillas’ location, terrain and forest conditions. Once the gorillas are found, you spend one hour observing them. You may see a silverback, mothers with infants, juveniles playing and family members feeding or resting. After the trek, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8, Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and Boat Ride
After breakfast, leave Bwindi and drive to Lake Bunyonyi, a scenic highland lake near Kabale. The drive takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your lodge location in Bwindi and road conditions. The route passes through terraced hills, villages and green highland landscapes. On arrival, check in at your lodge and have lunch. In the afternoon, take a boat ride or canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi to visit some of the islands and learn the stories connected to local communities. Lake Bunyonyi is a calm place to rest after gorilla trekking, with cool air, lake views and a slower pace before the return journey. Dinner and overnight stay at Bunyonyi Eco-Lodge, budget option.
Day 9, Return to Kampala or Entebbe with Equator Stop
After breakfast, begin the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe. You will stop in Mbarara for lunch, then continue to the Uganda Equator at Kayabwe for photos and souvenir shopping. The drive is long, so timing depends on road conditions, traffic and the number of stops along the way. Arrival in Kampala or Entebbe is usually in the late afternoon or evening. Your driver guide will drop you at your hotel, residence or Entebbe International Airport. For same-day international flights, choose a late evening or night departure to allow enough time for the journey.
