This Kigali memorial opens at 8:00 a.m., and entry is allowed until 4:00 p.m. Photography is permitted outside but not inside. The Nyamirambo Women’s Centre

The Nyamirambo Women’s Centre is located in a suburb of Kigali. It was established in 2007 by a group of local Rwandan women who had experienced gender violence in the past. The Inema Arts Center

It features the work of both upcoming and seasoned artists from around the world and serving as a studio for ten artists-in-residence who work in a variety of mediums.

The center hosts workshops and training programs aimed at nurturing the next generation of Rwandan artists. Visitors can explore the artwork displayed in the gallery or visit the gift store, which offers jewellery, linens, and leather items created by the centre’s students.  Visting Inema Art Center offers you with the chance to join in traditional dance forms such as the “amaraba,” performed by girls, and the “intore,” presented by the boys.

Kimironko Market is one of the Kigali’s most extensive and bustling marketplace, offering a vibrant and engaging afternoon of exploration. Kimironko Market is arguably the largest local market in Kigali. The Kigali Convention Centre

The Kigali Convention Center is situated adjacent to the well-known Radisson Blu Hotel. It stands out as one of the city’s most notable landmarks. The building is designed to resemble a beehive, with stunning lighting that creates a mesmerizing display at night. It is believed that the architect drew inspiration from the King’s palace in Nyanza, which features a comparable architectural style.

The Natural History Museum

The Museum of Natural History in Kigali stands out as the premier institution dedicated to showcasing Rwanda’s natural beauty. Its northern wing highlights the diverse wildlife, including various animal and bird species, along with the stunning volcanoes that defines the landscape. Visitors to Kigali city can also explore the State House Museum, formerly known as the Presidential Palace, located outside the city centre. This site provides a historical perspective on the event leading up to the 1994 genocide.  Notably, the last two presidents to use this palace were Habyarimana and Pasteur Bizimungu. The death of President Habyarima, who was killed in a plane crash near his own presidential compound was a pivotal moment that triggered the genocide.

The palace has interesting exhibits to explore including, devices for detection, a gun cabinet and a nightclub for the president and friends. You can also see both a chapel and another room that was used for rituals. Additionally, the wreckage of the Falcon 50 presidential jet, which was shot down, is displayed next to the palace gardens, offering a sobering reminder of the tragic history.
