1 Day Lake Mburo National Park safari

Lake Mburo National Park is the closest savannah park to Kampala. The road trip covers about 149 miles. The drive takes about four hours. This short trip gives you a fast way to see animals without long travel days. The Uganda Wildlife Authority notes this park is the only place in western Uganda where you can see Impalas. It is also home to thousands of Zebras. We run this trip with good cars. This helps reduce travel stress. You arrive fresh and ready for the park tours.

What to Expect on This Short Trip

The Morning Drive and Animal Viewing

Your trip starts very early in Kampala. We pick you up and drive straight to the park. Early arrival helps us catch the morning animal action. The park has over 68 mammal species. We drive through the grass plains to look for Elands, Topis, and Buffaloes. Leopards live in the park too. They are hard to see during the day. The park has no Elephants. This allows the trees and bushes to grow thick. The thick bushes make the park look very green.

Afternoon Lake Cruise and Lunch

After the morning drive, we head to the water. The boat cruise takes about two hours. The lake water is calm. The lake holds many Hippos and Crocodiles. You will see them close to the boat. You will also see many water birds. We stop for a hot lunch at a lodge near the park. The lodge choice depends on your budget. Luxury travelers eat at Mihingo Lodge. Mid-range travelers eat at Rwakobo Rock. Budget travelers eat at Eagle’s Nest Lodge. The food is fresh and gives you energy.

Is One Day Enough for This Trip

Many people ask if one day is enough to see the park. Yes, it is enough if you start early. The park is small compared to other parks in Uganda. The animals live close to the main tracks and the lake. A full day gives you enough time for a long morning drive and a boat trip. You do not need an overnight stay to see the main animals. This saves you money on hotel rooms.
